The easiest way to get to the Australian Reptile Park is via car. We’re only 60 minutes north of outer Sydney and south of Newcastle. We have a strict no smoking policy within the grounds of the Australian Reptile Park. A designated smoking area is in the carpark to the left of the frilled-neck lizard entrance. Smoking e-cigarettes is also not permitted.

Free all-day parking is available for visitors. During peak seasons, our overflow carpark is opened to accommodate the increased numbers of patrons.

Visitors are permitted to take photos and videos of our animals for personal use only. Drone photography is not permitted.

What can I do at the Australian Reptile Park if it rains?2020-08-31T14:48:59+10:00

In case of wet weather, the Park will remain open to visitors. Although the majority of the Park is outdoors, our reptile, nocturnal, spider, platypus, walk-in aviaries and Komodo dragon exhibits are indoors. We also have a large undercover picnic area to stop and grab a bite to eat.

We recommend packing an umbrella just in case! Rain ponchos are also available for purchase at the gift shop.

Our onsite kiosk, the Hard Croc Café, offers both hot and cold food options. We also have coffee, ice creams, snacks and cold drinks. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are also available.

Yes, we have barbeques near the picnic tables in the Main Park Area and in the Undercover Picnic Area. Barbeques are free to use but can be reserved for a small fee by calling Reception on (02) 4340 1022.

A limited number of prams are available for $5 a day. Prams are available on first come, first served basis. If you would like to book a pram, contact Reception on (02) 4341 1022 prior to your visit.

We accepted Parents NSW Vouchers on-site at Reception and online until 9 October 2022. Parents NSW Vouchers could be used for general admission, photo experiences, animal encounters and annual passes. Parents NSW vouchers could be redeemed any day (including public holidays).

Animals

Can I hold a koala at the Australian Reptile Park?2020-11-10T07:45:39+11:00

Unfortunately, it is prohibited by law for anyone to hold a koala in NSW (the state in which we are situated) unless you are a trained zookeeper. The only state in Australia that still allows the holding of koalas is Queensland. However, at The Australian Reptile Park we provide a Photo Experience where you can get up close to the koalas, pat them, have your photograph taken and cuddle up really close while they still sit in their tree!

Can I hand-feed a kangaroo? Where can I buy kangaroo food?2020-08-31T15:15:19+10:00

Our friendly kangaroos will eat right out of your hand! However, it is extremely important that our kangaroos are only fed the special kangaroo food that is available for purchase at the Kiosk and Reception desk. Human food like chips, bread, fruit and carrots, can make our kangaroos very sick.

Yes! Visitors may purchase a Photo Experience for a hands-on encounter with a koala. Photo experiences are $39.99 each, you can have as many people in the photo as you like and you will receive one printed photo. How can I get up close to animals at the Australian Reptile Park?2020-08-31T15:15:03+10:00

The Australian Reptile Park is the best place to get up close to your favourite animals! Say hello to Hugo and rub his shell on his daily walk, pat and feed our free-range kangaroos, pat a koala during the koala feed and more! On weekends and school holiday periods, roving zookeepers will be roaming the Park with animals to interact with.

I couldn’t see an animal during my visit. Where are they?2020-08-31T15:14:42+10:00

Some animals, like our nocturnal species including the platypus, possum, and wombat can be tricky to see sometimes!

If you can’t find our platypus, he’s probably just hiding or sleeping! Find one of our friendly keepers and they can help you see him.

The best time to see our wombat is in the morning or afternoon, during feeding times.

Our animals also undergo regular health checks. As we are open every day except Christmas Day, there may be times where an animal is off display as they are being cared for by our zookeepers.

Can I adopt an animal at the Australian Reptile Park?2020-08-31T15:15:53+10:00

Yes, all animals are available for symbolic adoption. Our animals require daily care from keepers including feeding, heating and much more. Your sponsorship will assist us to cover these basic costs and become involved in vital conservation projects.

Various age limits are in place for Animal Encounter participants in the interest of safety for both animals and children. Because Animal Encounters participants will go behind the scenes and into enclosures, we have imposed strict age limits to keep the experience calm and safe for all parties.

Service animals my enter the park with their owners as long as they are declared upon entry and suitable documentation is provided. There are also areas within the Park that service dogs are not permitted, due to our free-range animals. For more information, please call Reception on (02) 4340 1022.

The majority of the Australian Reptile Park is accessible via wheelchair. All areas of the Park are accessible via ramps, but some viewing areas cannot be accessed. Accessible parking spots are available in our free carpark. Please visit our Accessibility page for more information.

You may choose to upgrade your day pass to an Annual Pass during your visit and the cost of your day pass entry will be deducted from your Annual Pass.

No. When signing up for an Annual Pass, the name of the passholder must be given and photo I.D must be shown up entry when using the pass.

Annual Pass holders receive an array of benefits, including unlimited entry for 12 months, a free photo pass, discounts at the gift shop, and discounted Behind the Scenes Tours and Birthday Parties.
