Give your teenager the ultimate zookeeper for a day experience with our Big Kids 2 Keeper program! Designed for kids aged 12 – 18, this hands on full day experience takes them behind the scenes with our keepers to learn what zookeeping is really all about.
Participants will discover how animals are cared for, build confidence working with wildlife and explore areas of the Reptile Park guests never normally see. They'll get hands-on interaction with snakes, lizards, tortoises and alligators, enter our venom rooms and learn about our life-saving venom program and feed koalas, kangaroos, lorikeets and other iconic Australian animals.

What’s Included in the program?
- Keeper led sessions that introduce teens to the roles and responsibilities of a zookeeper
- Develop animal handling skills and have the chance to handle snakes, lizards, frogs, alligators, birds and mammals
- Gain experience with animal feeding, enclosure care, animal enrichment, hygiene routines, enclosure design and the renovation / construction of current exhibit projects
- Show off newly developed skills by presenting an animal at the Keeper Kids Show at 3.30pm!

What does it cost?
The Big Kids 2 Keeper experience is $179.99 per participant, with a group discount of 20% off for 3+ participants. The package includes:
- Entry to the Australian Reptile Park
- Behind the scenes, hands-on animal interaction from 9am – 4pm
- Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea
- Free return ticket & ARP cap
- Certificate of Completion
- Access to discounted K2K photo passes & Annual Passes for participants and their families
Optional extras:
Enjoy professional photo opportunities throughout the tour and save 15% on photo packages. A single printed and digital photo is $29.99, while the Snappy Pass gives you four photos for $89.99, with one photo free! Discounted photo packages are available online or at the gate.
Things to Note
- Big Kids 2 Keeper runs from 9am – 4pm
- Suitable clothing and enclosed footwear must be worn on the day
- Our Big Kids 2 Keeper programs run once per month and on select school holiday days
- Limited to one group per day with 16 participants
- Minimum of 6 participants required for the program to run
- Please inform Reception of any dietary requirements prior to the day
- Friends and family of participants are welcome to attend the Keeper Kids Show presentation at 3.30pm. Up to four people per participant can be admitted to the Reptile Park free of charge, after 3pm.
